Kilimanjaro International Airport
we always strive to provide our children with real-world experiences that complement what they learn in the classroom. Recently, our little ones had an exciting trip to Kilimanjaro International Airport to witness air transportation up close, which they had been learning about as part of their transportation lessons.
In class, the children were introduced to various types of transportation, such as road transport, train transport, and air transport. This trip was a chance for them to see air transport in action, and it was a day filled with curiosity and discovery. For many of the children, this was their first time at an airport, and for some, it was their very first time seeing an actual airplane.
The day started at our IBES Maji ya Chai branch, where children from other branches joined us. Once everyone was ready, we boarded the bus, filled with excitement and anticipation. The children happily sang songs like “The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round,” and their joyful energy filled the air. Along the way, they eagerly asked questions about what they would see at the airport, making the journey even more fun and lively.
When we arrived at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we received a warm welcome from the staff. After a brief wait to ensure everything was safe, we made our way inside. The children were thrilled to watch planes take off and land right in front of them! The airport staff was incredibly helpful, providing us with information about the different kinds of planes, as well as a bit of history about the airport itself. The children’s eyes were wide with amazement as they watched the large planes up close—this was truly a memorable experience for them.
After our time at the airport, the children were a bit tired, so we headed back to the bus for some snacks before making our way back to IBES Daycare in Maji ya Chai. Once back, we all enjoyed a well-deserved lunch together, and the children were buzzing with excitement about everything they had learned and seen.
It was a fantastic day of learning, adventure, and fun. We are so thankful to the team at Kilimanjaro International Airport for their kindness and for making this experience possible for the children. This trip perfectly brought their classroom lessons to life, and the children now have a much better understanding of air transport.
